Diversity of Experiences

Research Associate Professor at the Physics Department of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton (2007-2011). Director of the Pan American Advanced Studies Institute on Frontiers in Imaging Science (2011) intended to foster international collaboration between young researchers in the Americas. Visiting Associate Professor at the College of Optics and Photonics, CREOL, University of Central Florida, Orlando (2011-2016).

Science Officer at the Regional Office of the International Council for Science (ICS) for Latin America and the Caribbean (2014-2015) in charge of the disaster risk reduction and sustainable energy programs in the region.

Associate Member (1989-1998) and Senior Associate Member (1998-2006) of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, where she developed ability for multicultural interaction and collaboration. Chair of the Advisory Group for the Trieste System on Optical Sciences and Applications (2008-2017). Chair of the International Council and member of the Board of Directors of the Optical Society (OPTICA, former OSA) (2003-2004). Fellow of OPTICA for her contributions to quantum and atom optics and for the promotion of optics in developing countries (2007). Vice President of the International Commission for Optics and Chair of the Committee for Regional Development of Optics (2005-2008). Secretary General of the International Commission for Optics (2008-2017). Associate member of the IUPAP C15 commission on Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (2014-2017).

Honorary Doctorate from the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kachatur Abovyan (2011). Coordinator of the UNESCO Workshop on Active Learning in Optics and Photonics (ALOP) in Latin America (2008-2017).
